Work Exempt from Contractors License Requirement Increased from $500 to $1,000
As of January 1, 2025, any construction work allowed without a contractors license has been increased from $500 to $1,000 per AB 2622 (Carrillo, Chapter 240, Statutes of 2024); however, the work cannot require a permit and no employees are allowed.
In addition, any advertising must disclose that they are not licensed.
If the work requires a permit or one or more employees are assisting/performing the work, a contractors license is required regardless of the amount.
